What is a Company Card?

A company card is a special smart card that allows a transport company to:

  • Download data – Read information from the tachograph and driver card.

  • Register and deregister vehicles – Required when purchasing or selling a truck, as well as for rental or temporary vehicles.

  • Ensure security – Prevents unauthorized access or tampering with tachograph data.

When Do You Need a Company Card?

  • To register your company on the tachograph when purchasing a new truck or tachograph

  • To register on the tachograph of a rental vehicle

  • When re-registering a tachograph

  • For manually downloading data from any truck used by your employees

  • For managing a fleet and complying with legal regulations

  • To extract tachograph data manually or via an automated system (such as the DigiDL-HX)

How to Apply for a Company Card?

Tachograph company cards are issued by the national authority or agency responsible for transport, road safety, or vehicle regulation. This varies by country. In general, you will need to apply through your country's official body, such as:

  • The national vehicle licensing agency

  • A transport or infrastructure ministry

  • A road safety authority

Your card will be registered and securely stored in our card hotel. If you need the card physically, we can send it back to you temporarily upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a company card valid?
Typically 5 years. Check the expiry date and apply for a new card in time.

What if I lose my card?
Request a replacement as soon as possible and block the old card through the appropriate authority.

Do I always need to send in my company card?
Not always. If you're using devices like DigiVu, DigiFob Pro or DigiPost, you need to keep the company card yourself to read the tachograph. Only for our automatic readers (e.g., DigiDL) do you need to send the card to us.

What if I get a new truck?
You'll need the company card to register the tachograph of the new vehicle under your company.

Can I have multiple company cards?
Yes, duplicates are allowed. Check your national authority to be sure. 

Can I keep one card and use a duplicate simultaneously?
Yes, that’s possible—as long as the first 13 characters of the cards match.

What if I close my business?
Ensure that your company card is deregistered from all vehicles. Destroy the card(s) in accordance with the guidelines of the appropriate authorities.
